Microblading Care Instructions

It is so important to us that you LOVE your new brows! To make sure we are able to give you the best brows of your life, please read the pre care instructions below thoroughly and completely prior to your appointment. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the instructions below, please contact us as soon as possible: cvmedispa@gmail.com

PRE-CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • If possible, avoid any anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications for a period of 2 weeks prior to treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling. If you take a blood thinning prescription, please check with your doctor prior to your microblading appointment to see how long, if at all, you can safely be off of your prescription.
  • Schedule your Dermal Filler and Botox appointment at least 2 weeks prior to your microblading appointment. Results from the Dermal Filler and Botox injections will take approximately 4 to 7 days to appear. We need you to be happy with your injection results before moving forward with your brows. Also, bruising and swelling may be apparent in that time period.
  • Be sure to have a good breakfast, including food and drink before your procedure. This will decrease the chances of light-headedness during your treatment.
  • You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Do not show up with coffee or soda in-hand.
  • Please wear your makeup as usual so we can get an idea of where your comfort zone is with shape and color. During your appointment we will take you through a series of measurements which will be the template for your perfect brows, helping us pinpoint your ideal symmetry and brow shape.
  • DO NOT consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising)
  • Please note that you will forfeit your deposit and your appointment will need to be reschedule if you:
  • Have not followed our pre-care instructions above
  • Arrive with a sunburn on your face
  • Arrive to the salon sick with a viral or bacterial infection
  • As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us via phone or email.
  • We can’t wait to give you the best brows of your life!

POST-CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

A large part of proper healing and color retention is dependent on your aftercare. Your new brows were an investment. Below is a list of “do’s and dont’s” to help you through the healing process. Please Note: Your brows will appear significantly larger, darker and sharper than what is expected in the final outcome. The superficial color will flake off, and your pigment will look 30 – 40% lighter. The strokes will heal into a soft “powdered” look. It will take time for this transition to happen based on how quickly the outer layer of your skin exfoliates. All permanent cosmetic procedures are a multi-session process. You will require follow up visits no sooner than 4 weeks after your first treatment.

THE DO’S

  • Day of procedure: to absorb any excess fluid that may surface, blot regularly with a clean cotton round or tissue. If you received your treatment early in the day, you can follow the “night of procedure” 3-5 times throughout the day.
  • Night of procedure: very delicately wash your brows with unscented antibacterial hand soap (Dial is recommended). Blot dry with a clean towel or paper towels. Do not use rough motions. Reapply a very small amount of the ointment you are sent home with to keep them moisturized. Brows should not be coated in the ointment to the point they look visibly gooey or shiny.
  • Morning after procedure: very delicately wash your brows with unscented antibacterial hand soap (Dial is recommended) to remove ointment and any blood or plasma that has surfaced. Blot dry with a clean towel or paper towel. Once 100% dry, apply a very thin layer of aftercare ointment. Be sure to use your balm sparingly as your skin needs a chance to heal itself. This is the only product that should touch your brows during the healing process. DO NOT apply additional moisturizer or makeup on the brows.
  • A makeup wipe or washcloth is best for the rest of your face. Avoid your brow area until fully healed.
  • Continue the morning wash and balm routine until the flaking has finished (roughly two weeks, though everyone’s heal time is slightly different so listen to your body).
  • Your brows will start to peel/flake a few days after your appointment. Expect this process to last up to two weeks, in some cases longer. DO NOT PICK at your brows. Let the skin shed naturally. Do not be alarmed if the shed skin has pigment in it, the pigment is still in your skin as well. Some areas could look pink around the pigment; this is normal and will fade over time.
  • Eyebrows will require continued moisturizing even once the flaking stops. Keeping the pigmented skin moist will help with color retention and itching. Tattooed skin looks much prettier when hydrated!
  • Always wear a hat if you’re in the sun. The sun will cause fading to the pigmented area resulting in an undesired shade. Always wear sunblock on your eyebrows.

THE DONT’S

  • Do not be alarmed during peeling. Your brows might appear lighter than expected and it will appear that most of the color is flaking off. This is the superficial color and is part of your body’s natural healing process. Your brows will appear softer and grayer until the color clarifies.  The entire healing process will take about 4 – 8 weeks depending on your body’s regeneration and age. Your new eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle. Be patient and allow your body to heal in it’s own time.
  • Often even with proper care, clients may lose original hair strokes. We cannot control the skin! It is absolutely normal. It’s okay to heal unevenly. This is why every client requires two sessions, minimum.
  • Do not get your brows wet in the shower until the exfoliating has finished and your brows have healed. (Keep your face away from the water stream.)
  • No working out or engaging in activities that result in sweating. Saline (salt) is used in tattoo removal! No exceptions.
  • No makeup on your brows until peeling has finished. No exceptions.
  • No steamy showers, no tanning bed, no swimming. No exceptions.
  • Avoid sleeping on your stomach and sides during the healing process.
  • Avoid the use of any products containing retinol, AHA, glycolic acid, anti-aging and anti-acne ingredients for the life of your tattoo. Using these products can result in faster fading of the color.
  • No itching or picking. Your brows may itch as they are healing. Tap them, DO NOT SCRATCH! If you compromise the pigment you can cause scarring and color loss.
  • Wear a hat if you are going to be in the sun. The sun will cause the pigmented area to fade, resulting in an undesired brow color. Always wear sunblock on your eyebrows.
  • ALWAYS avoid laser treatments over the treated area (Fraxel, IPL, etc) because they can destroy the pigment and cause severe burns.
  • Use of antibiotics and hormonal therapy can lead to a faster pigment fading. Always protect the brows from the sun with SPF, just not during the first 7 days.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us via phone or email.

We truly hope you enjoy your gorgeous new brows!
