What Is Juvéderm?

Juvéderm vs. Botox

While Juvéderm and Botox are both effective cosmetic treatment options, the two substances are very different from one another. Botox is an injectable neurotoxin that immobilizes the muscles underneath the skin. It is used to target dynamic wrinkles and fine lines that are created by repetitive facial movements, such as laughing or squinting.

Juvéderm does not target the muscles but instead restores volume to areas of the face, such as the cheeks or the lips. Due to the distinct functions of the two substances, they are sometimes used in conjunction with one another.

Botox can be used to treat forehead lines, laugh lines, or crow’s feet. Types of Juvéderm

There are several different types of Juvéderm dermal fillers currently in production. Chasing Vanity Salon & Medi Spa recommends two of these variants to patients at our Grand Rapids, MI, office.

For treatments such as enhancing the contour of a patient’s cheeks, our providers will use Juvéderm Voluma, which is specifically formulated to address age-related volume loss.

The Dermal Filler Treatment Process

As with other injectable treatment options, we typically require patients to schedule a consultation prior to receiving Juvéderm. This allows our care team to review your medical history and ensure that we are providing you with the best treatment for your needs.

When you return for treatment, our clinician will conduct a brief review of the process with you before administering the Juvéderm. They will then carefully administer the Juvéderm dermal filler to the designated locations. This entire process may take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on how many areas you want to treat.

There is no downtime associated with dermal fillers, which means that you can resume your normal activities as soon as you leave our Grand Rapids, MI, office. You can even drive yourself to and from your appointment.

How Long Do Juvéderm Injectable Fillers Last?

While results may vary, Juvéderm injectable fillers typically produce results that last for approximately a year and a half. Some patients might notice that the effects of Juvéderm begin to fade sooner than this, while others may experience benefits for as long as two years.
